Elisabetta Trenta is an Italian politician and security specialist who served as Italy’s Minister of Defence from 2018 to 2019. Her career combines public service, international development and work in post-conflict settings.
She worked as a political adviser in Iraq, and as country adviser to the commander of Italy’s UNIFIL contingent in Lebanon. Her work with SudgestAid included supporting local governance in Lebanon and a project to reintegrate former combatants in Libya.

She is interested in Italian politics, defence policy, geopolitical risk, and the relationship between political decisions and security operations.
