• Co-Founder, Grenade

BIO

Juliet Barratt is one of the UK’s most prominent entrepreneurs and business leader, best known as the co-founder of Grenade, the sports nutrition brand.

She launched Grenade in 2009 on a shoestring budget with her husband, Alan. The couple worked tirelessly importing and distributing sports nutrition supplements on behalf of other people, until they were eventually inspired to create their own brand.

In 2006, they trademarked Grenade®, spending the following four years perfecting a range of innovative, high-protein products, almost losing everything they owned in the process before launching in 2010. Growing the brand, Juliet developed Grenade from a small startup into a multimillion-pound company, renowned for its innovative protein bars and sports nutrition products.

Her expertise in marketing and branding, combined with a passion for health and fitness, helped the brand achieve rapid growth, securing its position as a household name internationally. Grenade has been a regular in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 and held many business awards. In 2021, she sold Grenade to Cadbury owner Mondelez who snapped up the business in a £200 million deal.

Having stepped away from the day-to-day operations, Juliet spends much of her time mentoring entrepreneurs and advising start-ups. She is a Honorary Professor at the University of Exeter.
