Alex Borg is the Leader of the Opposition in Malta, and leader of the Nationalist Party. First elected to Malta’s Parliament in 2022, he served for three years as Shadow Minister for Gozo and sat on the Gozo and Foreign Affairs Parliamentary Committees. He became Nationalist Party leader in 2025 and was sworn in as Leader of the Opposition – and one of the youngest political leaders in Europe.
A lawyer by training, his political priorities include a strong, competitive economy and robust public healthcare and education.

Borg brings a political and legal perspective to discussions of Malta’s economy, public policy and European economics. He is particularly interested in economic competitiveness, innovation-led growth, public services and community-focused political leadership.
